This Privacy Policy explains how Vote Nagatani (the campaign committee for Anthony "Tony" Nagatani, candidate for Hawaiʻi State House District 28, referred to as "we," "us," or "the campaign") collects, uses, and protects information about you when you visit votenagatani.com, sign up to volunteer, donate, attend an event, or otherwise communicate with us. We are a political campaign, not a business, and we are not in the business of selling your data. We collect information so we can talk with voters, organize the district, and run an honest campaign.
Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
When you fill out a form on this site (volunteer signup, the neighborhood project list, an event RSVP, or a donation), we collect the information you choose to provide. That may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address or street, and any comments or issues you share with us.
Information from public voter records
Like every political campaign, we work from publicly available voter file information maintained by the State of Hawaiʻi and the counties. This may include your name, address, party affiliation as recorded by the state, and your history of whether (not how) you voted in past elections. We use this to plan door-knocking routes and to make sure we are reaching real voters in the district.
Information collected automatically
Our website may collect basic, non-identifying technical information such as your browser type, device, and general usage, through standard web logs. See the Cookies section below.
Donations
Contributions are processed through ActBlue, a third-party platform with its own privacy and security practices. When you donate, ActBlue collects payment information directly. We receive the contribution details that Hawaiʻi campaign finance law requires us to keep, such as your name, address, occupation, employer, and amount. Certain contribution information is reported to the Hawaiʻi Campaign Spending Commission and becomes part of the public record, as required by law.
How We Use Your Information
- To contact you about the campaign, volunteering, events, and how to vote.
- To respond to the questions, issues, and project-list submissions you send us.
- To organize the district, plan canvassing, and understand which neighborhood concerns matter most.
- To process and properly report donations as required by Hawaiʻi law.
- To improve the website and our outreach.
Text Messages (SMS)
If you give us your phone number, we may contact you by text message about the campaign, including volunteer opportunities, events, and voting reminders, using tools such as CallHub. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Consent: By providing your mobile number, you agree to receive campaign text messages at that number. Consent is not a condition of volunteering, donating, or any other participation.
Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
How to opt out: You can stop campaign texts at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help. After you reply STOP, we will not send you further texts except to confirm that you have been unsubscribed.
Email opt-out: Every campaign email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at the address below to be removed from our lists.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in limited circumstances:
- Service providers who help us run the campaign (for example, email, texting, form, and donation-processing vendors), and only so they can perform that work for us.
- Volunteers and staff who need it to do campaign work, such as following up on a request you made.
- As required by law, including campaign finance reporting to the Hawaiʻi Campaign Spending Commission, or in response to a valid legal request.
Cookies
This site uses minimal cookies and similar technologies, primarily to make the site work and to understand general traffic. We do not use this site to build detailed advertising profiles of you. You can set your browser to refuse cookies; some parts of the site may work differently if you do.
Your Choices and Rights
- Opt out of texts by replying STOP, and out of emails using the unsubscribe link.
- Ask us what information we have about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us below. Please note we may be legally required to retain certain donation records.
- Decline to provide information, though some of it is needed to volunteer, donate, or RSVP.
Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to use trustworthy vendors.
Children
This site is intended for adults and for residents engaging with the campaign. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
